How to use QR Code Decoder

  1. 1

Choose "Upload image" and drop a photo or screenshot containing a QR code, or choose "Scan with camera" and point your camera at one.

  2. 2

The content decodes automatically as soon as a QR code is found.

  3. 3

Copy the result, or open it directly if it's a link.

Common uses

  • Reading a QR code from a screenshot or photo without a phone handy
  • Checking what a QR code actually points to before scanning it with a phone
  • Scanning a QR code live using a laptop's webcam

Supported formats and limitations

Accepts JPG, PNG, or WebP, up to one file at a time.

  • Camera scanning needs a browser that supports camera access (getUserMedia) and your explicit permission — it's requested only when you click "Start camera," never automatically.
  • A blurry, low-resolution, or heavily angled photo of a QR code may not decode — a clearer image usually resolves this.
  • This decodes standard QR codes only — other barcode formats (UPC, Code 128, etc.) aren't supported.

Frequently asked questions

No. Both the uploaded image and the camera feed are processed entirely in your browser — nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is recorded.

Usually a resolution, blur, or angle issue — try a clearer, more head-on photo, or move the camera closer for a live scan.

No — this reads standard QR codes only.

The content is shown as plain text first so you can read it before deciding — treat an unfamiliar link the same way you would any QR code from an unknown source.
