Find & Replace

Find and replace text online for free, with live match count and highlighting. Case sensitive and whole-word options — runs entirely in your browser.

Your files are processed locally in your browser and are not uploaded to our servers.

How to use Find & Replace

  1. 1

Paste your text into the box.

  2. 2

Type what to find and what to replace it with — matches are found and highlighted as you type.

  3. 3

Turn on "Case sensitive" or "Whole word" if you need stricter matching.

  4. 4

Click "Replace" to replace the first match, or "Replace All" to replace every match.

Common uses

  • Swapping a name, term, or URL throughout a document
  • Fixing a repeated typo across a long piece of text
  • Bulk-editing exported data before pasting it somewhere else

Supported formats and limitations

Accepts text, up to one file at a time.

  • "Whole word" matching is Unicode-aware, so it correctly respects word boundaries in Vietnamese and other non-English text, not just plain ASCII.
  • This works on plain text, not a rich document — formatting (if your source had any) isn't part of what's searched or preserved, since everything here is plain text to begin with.

Frequently asked questions

No. Searching and replacing both happen entirely in your browser.

Yes — both the match count and the highlighted preview update live as you type in the Find field.

It only matches your search term when it appears as a complete word, not as part of a longer word — e.g. searching "cat" won't match inside "category" when this is on.

Yes — "Replace" replaces only the first match; "Replace All" replaces every match at once.

No — replacement text is always inserted literally, so a $ or any other character in it won't be misinterpreted as a special pattern.
